This. Places like this are why I am on this brewery journey. @stonypointbrewing has a vast array of options, and I had the pleasure of trying nearly all of them. I knew this place would be passing the vibe check once I saw MTV’s Daria on screen, Bavarian flags and accessories on display , and a nod to @einstok Ölgerð on tap. It doesn’t stop there. The Aye Be You West Coast IPA had a pine and oak woodiness that comforts me, and the Hi-Tor Rue Porter was a full-bodied cream like tongue-coating coffee forward porter that must be sampled. I had the last of the Experimental #8, and the Tomkins Kölsch is a great standard. Hungry? They got sausages and wurst on standby, served with a German potato salad. As a half-Bavarian, I approve highly! No marathon this month means #nybrewery visits! First stop is @roundtable.brewery in West Haverstraw. I visited before when in another incarnation, this go around shows a fresh lean into brews with wild yeast. I was amazed by the playfully sour and mysteriously smoky (yet clean) Alto Lindo American Wild Ale! My follow up was a chocolate-espresso note Dark Table – careful, this 9% ABV stout drinks wonderfully easy! First time at Simple Motive! The industrial vibes were offset with chill music and great pours: this was a great choice to celebrate a well-earned half marathon result! Perpetuity had some woodsy overtones I really enjoyed, and Nepperhan was reminding me of a delicious soda with its bubbljness and tropical fruit. I definitely want to try that stout! I’ve been having palpitations and anxiety since Wednesday night. (It’s been slowly improving, and I’m in touch with my cardiologist, don’t worry!) 21 mile run from Croton to Yonkers brewery! Amazing time! Yonkers brewery menu for food and tipple is simply amazing. The Mimi’s Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich is not on the brunch menu, but was a tasty waffle-sandwich treat. Ray’s IPA was citrusy awesomeness and Aurora was more complex and addictively drinkable. Peekskill Brewery was more than just a local craft brewery. From here, I met a wonderful group of people and unlocked a social circle that I would not have otherwise found. Always the loner, establishing myself in a new city come 2018 was the hardest of uphill runs. I’m grateful for this place and its contributions, people like @breweryrunning, mug club meetups, and opportunities it all brought. I’m not the loner-loser my head makes me think I am, and this place was more than just beer. I’ll forever remember the deceptively drinkable Brighton Beat TIPA of ‘22 (10% ABV), the classic Valley Life IPA, iconic Simple Sour, and clovey Ichabod’s Fall. This place was home. I’ll refuse to be sad for its closing as long as I am able to persist with forwarding the positivity it has done for me. The day before a harvest holiday, I sit here thankful. Folks? #supportlocal .
